0264-w Full Moon on a Blue Night
This 15" x 22" original watercolor painting depicts a blue night with a full moon lighting the landscape below. Rows of pine trees are silhouetted against the crystal-clear night sky. The full moon and stars are reflected in the water creating an interesting mirror image. If you look closely at the moon you can see that I hand-painted the craters and other markings on the full moon.

0274-w Sunset Canoe
This is a non-original study of a watercolor painting called Misty Bark Lake by Shelley Prior. In my 15" x 22" version, I add a canoe with two canoers, and a pier to her composition. In the distance the sun sets over the hills creating beautiful orange and yellow patterns in the foreground lake. As one of my favorite subjects, reflections in water dominate the composition.

0275-w Stained Glass Butterflyfish
This 15" x 22" original watercolor takes advantage of the shimmering effect created by metallic watercolor paints. It depicts a single butterflyfish against a checkered blue background. The brightly colored fish stands out against the shimmering blue background blocks.

0278-a Cracked Liberty
Cracked Liberty is an original 16" x 20" acrylic painting on a cradled birch wood panel. It depicts a 1776, 13-state version of the American flag which appears cracked and weathered. I took advantage of the properties of Acrylic Crackle Paste to create the appearance of weathered wood. Sometimes the acrylic medium provides unique and unusual ways to create art. Some of my most unusual paintings have been done in Acrylics.

0281-w Swan Wake in Gold
This 15" x 15" original watercolor painting depicts a swan in silhouette swimming toward the viewer and creating a wake behind it. A beautiful gold and orange sunset fills the sky as it sinks over a distant mountain peak.

0284-a Golden Spire
This Poured Acrylic Abstract Painting was created by pouring different colored paints through a collander and letting the paint form the desired pattern. The completed painting is 11" x 14" in size and is enhanced with glossy Epoxy Resin overglaze which gives it a terrific sheen that can't really be seen or appreciated in a photograph.

0289-w Mountain Lake
Entitled "Mountain Lake", this is a follow-along study of a watercolor by Matthew Palmer. This 15" x 22" watercolor depicts a lake with mountains towering behind it in the distance. Reflections of the pine trees in the lake provide a feeling of calm to the scene. Foreground reeds create a sense of distance by providing a third plane to the composition.

0292-a Pull Chain Floral
This 12" x 16" original acrylic painting was started as an experiment but eventually turned into a finished painting in its own right. Pull-chains were used to create interesting effects that are not easily achieved by the use of brushes or palette knives. It depicts an imaginary plant with unusual multi-colored flowers.

0296-a Seven Colored Tanager
A newly completed original 18" x 24" acrylic painting depicting a beautiful bird called a Seven-Colored Tanager. This bird is endemic to forests of north-eastern Brazil and is considered to be an endangered species. I was particularly drawn to the incredibly bright colors of its feathers which allowed me to break out my brightest colored paints. It’s not often that I get to use such bright colors in one of my paintings. Painting the main branch was challenging because of the fascinating texture of the fungi growing on the branch. This was also my first attempt at using a bokeh background which I created using an airbrush. This made for an exciting effect and something new for my painting style.

0299-o View of the Milky Way
This 18" x 24" original oil painting deploys an idea I’ve had for quite a while. “View of the Milky Way” depicts a view of the night sky as seen through a row of evergreen trees. The trees guide the viewer’s eye directly toward the stars and the Milky Way. I added two elements that were not in my original source photograph which only depicted stars in the night sky. I used my artistic license and included an image of the Milky Way within the starfield. I also used the colors of a sunset to add interest and drama to the painting.

0300-a Looking Straight Up
This 12" x 12" original nocturne in oils depicts a starry sky as seen through a grove of evergreen trees. It was inspired by a photograph that I took several years ago and has been on my to-do list ever since.

0301-w Point Montara Lighthouse
This original 15" x 22" watercolor painting depicts a scene along the coastline of Montara California. It portrays a lighthouse and an adjoining Inn above beautiful red clay cliffs. Below the lighthouse, ocean waves lap up on the sands of the beach making this a very tranquil scene.

Fire in the Sky
This 10" x 10" original acrylic painting is an abstract painting done by pouring acrylic paints of differing colors through a colander The resulting pour is then tipped in different directions to create a "flowing" appearance.
